Aged Care Services Australia Group Pty Ltd is one of Australia’s leading providers of aged care and is enthusiastically committed to continuously improving aged care in Australia. As such we strive to surpass industry best practice and we are therefore pleased to announce the partnership of ACSAG and La Trobe University. We are collaborating in both research and teaching ventures to provide an exciting and empowering opportunity to Nursing students, whilst simultaneously promoting Nursing in aged care as it has never been seen before.

This innovative and unique opportunity is available to all Nursing students of La Trobe University whereby ACSAG fund research conducted under the auspices of La Trobe University and additionally provide practical experience to the students involved.

The Division of Nursing and Midwifery at La Trobe University is one of the oldest providers of outstanding nurse education in Australia and traces its origins back to the college of Nursing formed in 1948. This extensive history has enabled the Division to develop a wide foundation of international links and to establish a tradition of innovation, excellence and dynamism in nursing research and nursing education. The Division of Nursing and Midwifery’s strategic plan identifies aged care as one of its research strengths.

With a professor based at Central Park, ACSAG’s largest premium facility, ACSAG expects to enhance aged care provision and also shed light on the quality of care and calibre of nurses required to provide this outstanding quality of care. The collaboration will encourage students to experience aged care first hand, and will potentially increase exposure to this rewarding and dynamic industry that they may not generally gain exposure to during their studies.

With nursing students being trained by qualified staff at all of ACSAG’s facilities, the students bring a fresh and keen approach to the provision of care to the elderly. With its proactive approach to nursing ACSAG envisages to increase staff retention and training at each of its facilities and actively promote recruitment of nurses back into the aged care industry.

All students of La Trobe receive a priority of access to employment vacancies at ACSAG facilities and can therefore be paid to gain practical hands on experience. The rates of pay range from $20.00 p/h -$30.80 p/h, with penalty rates applicable on weekends.

If you wish to participate in this opportunity please contact the Facility Manager at your chosen ACSAG facility and mention that you are a La Trobe University Nursing Student.
